Summary: Harry tries his best to get Severus to give him a chance.
“Potter, what is this drivel!” Severus arrived in Harry’s office and slams down a paper on his desk.
“It’s a Valentine’s day card.”
“Bats are black, your eyes are too, If you want in my pants, I’d like that too. That is not a Valentine, it’s a proposition, and not even a well worded one.”
“Not everyone is as cultured as you, and might have trouble coming up with the right wording.” Harry ran his hand through his messy locks. “Look, it was a stupid card that I knew you wouldn’t even like. How about we forget all about it?”

Severus saw the defeat in the younger man that had been pursuing him so diligently since the school year had started. “Why did you not just get me roses, at least they can be useful as potions ingredients.”
Harry’s emerald eyes peaked out from under his bangs to ruminate his meaning. “You would accept roses from me?” his tone was cautiously hopeful.
“I find that I am willing to accept roses on the provision that I provide you with a fitting meal as repayment.”
“Do you mean that? Or are you just getting my hopes up to dash them again?”

“I would not say something I do not mean. I find that, against my better judgment, I enjoy spending time with you.”
“That’s the nicest thing you’ve said to me all year.” Harry’s smile transformed his entire face and lit up his eyes. “I need to get down to the florist then, to see if they still have any bouquets.”
“Meet at my quarters at six. See if you can’t locate an appropriate red wine for dinner.”
“Ok, Severus, I’ll get something. Anything else?” He moved to exit.
